Insurance Primer 101 will educate attendees about dental coding relevant to a periodontal practice. Content is intended for staff new to coding and/or reimbursement for periodontal procedures. This course will identify the typical procedure codes submitted in conjunction with treatment provided by the periodontist. Participants will receive a handout of information to be covered in the presentation.
Educational Objectives:
- Apply American Dental Association (ADA) CDT 2019 and new 2020 codes appropriately for dental insurance submission and reimbursement.
- Review what procedure codes need documentation and attachments when submitting to insurance.
- Identify the different types of dental insurance to increase effective patient communication.

- Comprehend the guidelines implemented by insurance plans for reimbursement.
- Troubleshoot administrative challenges related to reimbursement.
- Review the 2020 American Dental Association CDT code updates.
