This program relates to traditional periodontal therapy and is focused on saving teeth without placing implants. The speakers will discuss three significant aspects of periodontal treatment. Dr. Miyamoto will present important information relating to factors that affect long-term prognosis and pathogenesis of periodontal diseases, including periodontal maintenance. Dr. Kornman will discuss critical factors that affect long-term treatment outcomes. Dr. Tibbetts will present the clinical basis and rationale for long-term predictability of osseous surgery as a treatment modality.

- Summarize and discuss the current evidence of periodontal maintenance therapy.
- Relate new evidence relating to host systemic factors that may be relevant to successful diagnosis, periodontal treatment, and maintenance.
