Periodontal resective osseous surgery continues to be a viable modality for the management of periodontitis. This type of periodontal surgery can be considered for the treatment of several periodontal osseous defects including intrabony lesions, furcation involvements, regenerative therapies, and with extractions that may or may not include simultaneous dental implant placement. The challenge is to appropriately utilize available therapeutic approaches for the benefit of our patients.

The science, art, principles, and techniques of osseous surgery will be presented through the perspectives of two very well respected and experienced clinicians. The step-by-step approaches to provide periodontal osseous resective surgery to achieve a stable and maintainable periodontium will be presented during this fast-paced program.

Educational Objectives:

  • Discuss the indications and contraindications for periodontal resective osseous surgery.
  • Consider the clinical potentials and limitations of periodontal resective osseous surgery.
  • Develop a step-by-step approach to perform periodontal osseous resective osseous surgery.
  • Adopt a framework for actualizing the practice growth potentials of the various periodontal surgical therapies.
